It’s been a while since our last load of Mets Laundry, so let’s get right into it!
MLB’s 2025 Memorial Day tribute came in the form of a uniform patch that all players, coaches, and umpires wore throughout the league on Monday. Thank you to SportsLogos.net for the great close up of the patch.
Gary and Ron had some fun at Steve Gelbs’ expense during Monday’s broadcast. Aghast at the sight of Steve’s wrinkly shirt, Gary offered him his travel steamer. Despite the groans from Gary and Ron, Steve assured them that the wrinkles were intentional and strategically located. None of this mattered in the end, as Steve and his wrinkled shirt were caught up in the Gatorade bath celebrating the Mets’ walk-off win, which was secured by a sacrifice fly off the bat of Francisco Lindor.
The Mets wore special Armed Forces hats during the Subway Series (May 16th-18th). The team ended up 1-2 in the first leg of the series, but still has a chance to win the season-long Subway Series with a sweep in Queens over the 4th of July weekend. I generally like the Armed Forces caps, but I definitely like this year’s salutary sombreros more than the 2024 edition.
