Welcome to The I’m Not Stayin’ On This Farm Report, where we discuss which Mets’ prospect has been killin’ it on the field.

To put it mildly, Brett Baty had a phenomenal spring training. The offensive stats speak for themselves. .347/.439/.694 is quite a line and shows how well rounded he can be at the plate. Contact, power, patience, it’s all there. This is even more impressive when you consider he put up these numbers while getting comfortable at second base. Coming into the 2025 pre-season, Baty had only manned 2B during 27 games at the professional level (all of them during his 2024 stint in AAA Syracuse). It seems to be a sure thing that he will be part of the Mets’ opening day roster and will be slotted into 2B while Jeff McNeil recovers from an oblique injury.
Brett Baty exceeded rookie status in the 2023 season and played in 50 games for the big club in 2024. Simply put, Brett Baty is no longer a Mets prospect. I’m betting that the 2025 will be the year the former 1st round draft pick establishes himself as a major league mainstay.
Congrats to Brett Baty who, for now, has escaped the farm (system). Hopefully he can perform at the major league level and shed the unflattering AAAA-Player label that some fans place on him.
